  1. Went back to basics and smaller. When I first got to this site, and LBH found out about an outside project i was into he and Zel tried to help me to get it to grow. It is a tackle giveaway to ex cons and fellas in recovery. There was an interview on another national site and some pushing by Russ and it did grow and it became in effective. The idea was to spend time with each fella and help learn to fish and find some legit recreation. We have since toned it down and now it is back to 6 fellas a year, and it feels so right again I have it down to 4 Baitcasters, I am no pro at using them but each trip it gets better. Got the jig thing happening full time this year, that was a 2 year venture. Next season: reading and learning to use this Garmin 160 Depthfinder. Right now it is a great night light ;D I also learned something at Fork Lake in Texas: I do not like big ,fast boats, large bodies of water and the size of the fish I catch, is not important to me at all. Give me a small lake, a small tin boat, small gas engine and trolling motor and I am happier than a fly on a pile of elephant poop! I do not care how big the fish are, I am used to and get enjoyment fro 14 to 17 inch fish, if I ever catch a lunker, fine great, but for me it is time spent on the water , fishing with a close friend, finding some fish and catching them. Hardly the stuff of a pro or great fisherman but the stuff that keeps me fishing from ice out to freeze up!

  5. The new Fenwick HMG 7 ft MH/fast. great all around rod for 120 bucks. I don't go for the technique specific thing, highly overrated

  9. hello and
  10. Zel taught me to hold the rod high when getting close to the boat, making sure there is no slack in the line. They shake their heads and if you are not careful at the least you loose the fish, at the worst you have hooks embedded in you.
  11. This year is out, next year WATCH OUT!!!!!!!!!

    HELLO AND
  13. I respect Doug and didn't know he had anything to do with this reel. I guess companies never copy each others gimmicks when they sell, I ain't buying that one boss. The fishing world has been filled with gimmickry and that's one of the things driving sales like SEXY SHAD and RED HOOKS, nah they aren't gimmicks ;D
  14. Hey Keep your hat on while out on the bend, Grasshopper has been getting a little bit Zen lately ;D
  15. So Steezy: how do you think that rod will handle a Zebco 33, the Platinum model of course
  16. Hey John: we experienced just the opposite on the Chunk: The frog bite itself was almost non existent. One the back waters and slow pools of the susquehanna. it was about just like every other year. On our local ponds, the frog bite was literally non existent this year, very, confusing. Especially since your location and weather is not far off from here. :-/ My 3rd 6+ this year came on a black frog at the "lunch pond." Noel Good and I caught a pile of frog fish on Port Bay, two weeks ago, where the weed eater had removed all the weeds. We just walked them over what was left. I can't explain it. Perhaps because I do so many types fishing, maybe I'm doing something different? I don't use a log, or go back to look at old reports. I just fish what's dealt to me. Now there are a couple of lakes where the weedlines are as perfect, health, and as strong as ever. I can't figure that one out. Many others are pretty weak in the weed department. Fishing in all has been super. I hope to get some time fishing with you next year; I should pay you for the lessons ;D

  19. Hey Big Tom: Top water for us was no where near as good as previous years, and when it came it was great but sporadic Things I have noticed: This year>>> HOW ABOUT YOU FELLAS?? The weeds did not get as "full bodied" and the weed beds did not set up as usual water temps were mostly low, with wild fluctuations in water temp Rain raised water levels drastically Bass never seemed to set up in usual summer patterns now Fall does not seem like a real transition period Less or no bugs very few turtles less frogs... greatly diminished frog bite A general lack of natural activity blue herons showed up late and in fewer numbers geese not so plentiful around the lake this year Loons are back here early
  20. Wavespin is a sponsor, or was? I missed that one :-?
  21. Stretched horizons and wallets; last week saw my cell phone sleeping with the fishes in 6 ft of water :-/
  22. Tried downsizing, line changes, even the way I face the area to be fished, with little or no results. I am sure there is a puzzle piece I have missed. I had fun anyway 8-)
  23. Peel it off yourself, but it won't look as good is not an acceptable option for good customer service in my book. Taking back the reel ( which they said they would do) is a good option, but to replace it with a reel that is still made using a process they know to be defective, is just not what I look for in a reel. This reel is borderline gimmick to begin with, I fished one for 2 days ( friend Mike bought one) granted to be fair not enough time to give a qualified review as Latka once said on Taxi TO WHAT DOES THIS PERTAIN???? I don't get this product and now I certainly don't get this company
