  1. This was my single hardest year of fishing ever. Rain and constantly below average temps ( we recorded the coolest July on record) had the weed beds never fully setting up, as is usually so predictable during the summer season here, on all bodies of water. I had to deprogram myself from past years and logs, as the fish were never where they were supposed to be. Rather than one dominant pattern, there were several ambiguous ones going on daily! Then finally last week temps in the 90's and at least a familiar top water night bite developed, only to have that radically changed by a record setting 42 degree night!!!!!! What a weird year :-/
  2. Thanks, I am more familiar with the older models with the rhybrid brakes
  3. Well like he said on another thread If you can hold a 12 ounce can or bottle of beer you can fish. Well shut my mouth!!!!!! That there split grip does resemble a Miller, sorry I had the nerve to think you could be wrong sweet daddy
  4. September 18, 1970, The Day Jimi Hendrix Died Hey Fellas; I had a wonderful phone call this evening, topping off a wonderful night. It was from a fella Named Brad, he was the guitar player in a lot of bands I played drums in during my high school to college days. I am still being the brunt of the joke, as I was the only fella in all these bands who was not African American, they went from soul , to blues to some great dance bands. We have separately found our way to recovery, and sad to say , many of our band mates are no longer around. He reminded me of the day Jimi Hendrix Died. We were playing an early gig at a block party, and were on the campus of LIU, Downtown Brooklyn( Correction we were on the stairs of Brooklyn College of Pharmacy, of LIU, on DeKalb ave ) our friend and another drummer Donnie C. told us "Hey Jimi died" he did not even have to say Jimi who, as if we knew him on a friendly level; his music had changed and affected our lives in ways i am still understanding and feeling. After the gig we went to the Village to Electric Lady Studios; Jimi's Studio on 8th street , right off 6th Ave. It was strange lots of sad folks, subdued and muffled conversations and people weeping all over the street. Pain shared was pained lessened that night It is so hard to comprehend that 39 years have passed, I am grateful to have found my way into recovery and I am so much more elated Brad did also, as he was there, on all those gigs and during all those rehearsals and there was magic in those bands.
  5. Worth every penny. Infidel, welcome to Oklahoma! If you ever want to get off the base and see the most beautiful part of the state send me a PM. The Tulsa area, and its lakes, are awesome. My boat and I are at your disposal. Hey Infidel: he means disposal literally ;D :
  6. Hey Rooster; the older ones had different braking, more in line with a Pflueger Type reel, these new ones have magnetic type brakes, I think that is the biggest difference between both reels
  7. The Daiwa is of MUCH better construction. Its really no contest. If you had the two taken apart next to each other, you'd laugh out at the Pinnacle. Seriously. That's good enoungh for me, Thanks!
  8. If you show him yours I am sure he will show you his Watch it Steetzy; he lives on a lake and you only own Steez Rods. :
  9. Hey ChiCity Basser; how do the newer ones made by Diawa, stand up next to the older ones made by Pinnacle?
  10. HEY DAVE : I was upset about another posters response and I was out of line and now that I re read this post I was wrong and was way too strong with you. I was out of line and wrong and I apologize
  11. Unless it's raining; what's so bad about that?

Absolutely always goes over whats expected, as all the Mods do. I was looking for some Gman jigs, and they showed up, from Kent. Lbh, Fivebass Limit, and Jeff have all done similar things , it's that Glenn guy that seems to be the slacker ;D
  13. I have been fishing for 42 years, and have lived on water in Louisiana , that does not give me the right to talk down to everyone else who does not have this experience. I use six pin brakes mostly, because I prefer them. I have a new Patriarch with the hybrid and cant wait to useit. My experience, with many hours of use with the BPS reels has been VERY DIFFERENT FROM YOURS, so have many here, who I have fished with and had work on my reels, so have they acted differently for fellas in my club , and I still do not understand the crazy glue thing, which experience would tell you would defeat the ability of the centrifugal brakes to work properly It is your condescending tone to everyone that is uncalled for, and the dubious believability of your justifications that seem at odds Come to Pickwick with us this year, if you are all that bad , let's see what you got. Stupidity, and weekend warrior labels just plain suck
  14. They kept going out when I tried to light one
  15. Hey Glenn: Your HO Ho's were all packaged and all I had to do was mail them on the way to the Chunk this weekend I ATE THEM, all over the weekend. They never made it out of the truck cab I have bought another box, I will wrap them and get them out this weekend No Excuses, I just gave in and ate the whole box in 2 days Dominick
  16. I use ABU's now mostly. I learned on the reels you are talking about and I have many friends who currently use them> For the most part happy , customers. I have NEVER seen the issue you are referring to, and if you had so much problems, because everyone including Shimano makes a bad reel once in a while, : Why didn't you return it or switch it out, BPS has excellent customer service and would have obliged you? I have a lot of experience, many hours of use by myself and a lot of my frineds and club members, and not one of us has experienced anything close to this problem, not one of us! Seems odd that a person, as knowledgeable as your self about tackle; would have gone to crazy glue , rather than customer service. Reel Mech: You do not service this brand of reel, however those who do have a good understanding of their operations and the hybrid brakes are really not that much different in feel than either the pure magnetic or mechanical brakes . I just bought a Patriarch with the same system and I do not see the problem with these brakes , not one bit of a problem.
  17. Men with moustaches, truly know what is the best NEXT-DAY ; LEFT OVER
  18. Hey Dave; Screw this exclusive crap. PM me your address, I have some cranks for you, no strings and no rules. Passin it Forward
  19. What a naysayer this guy is, he is always looking to mix it up , I can tell you from first hand experience these reels are an excellent way to learn. I have used these, the old Extremes and one Johnny Morris, all worked flawlessly, First off I learned how to bait cast on BPS Extremes, the older DUAL BRAKING MODEL. Secondly these reels are all several years old and still working for the folks I gave them to. These are highly dependable reels for their money class, and they are easy to learn on. BOTTOM LINE YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR THUMB EDUCATED, there is no getting away from that. When I started my learning process, many here recommending these BPS reels and they were definitely the way to go. Good luck !
  20. You are on a path, you know he won't let you see the map! Check your pms Dominick
  21. Aim for a spot about 10 ft in front of the cliff, do not even look at the cliff. I also switch out the stock hooks and put split rings on the hook hangers. I use the 0 shaped ones, as there was discussion here about using the oval ones, and I use the 0 shaped ones.
  22. Muddy, I love you man, but get serious -- the is BassResource.com, not Bass-Striper-Tuna-SteelheadResource.com, LOL. I am staying off this tread, as I am far from an enthusiast and also about above remark: I made this same observation 2 weeks ago, and was shot down, guess it is valid when others make it, :-?
