  1. No weeds or grass. Did try a shaky head, forgot that earlier. Also, tossed a jig but very little will try more jigging tomorrow.
  2. Spent the day on a lake that I have been to only a couple of times, usually with decent luck. Although today I was skunked with only a few dinks. The lake has allot of submerged timber and averages 20 feet deep. I spent most of my time on the timber, near the shoreline. Did spend some time looking for deep cover with electronics and the bottom seems to be very flat. Threw cranks, worms (finesse Texas and Carolina rigs) and swim-baits, fast slow and in between. I need some ideas on what else to try. The temps are in the mid to upper 70s. The fish I did catch were in the early AM after that things just died out as the sun came up. :'( :'( Need fresh ideas, I will be at the lake for the week, and need something to change my luck. The only bright side is that talking with some other anglers at the docks, they had little luck also. > :(
  3. Brings up another question, does Rapala "sure set hooks" make a difference or are another gimmick?
  4. Sent an email to Wave spin last nigh, and within a hour received the fowling reply; The chroming process for nylon is less than perfect at times as you now know. I can send you a new chrome piece for you to replace old one with, or you can send the reel to me for warranty and we shall do it for you. Another solution, is to simply remove the rest of the chrome coating from the nylon, but it will of course not be as pretty. Chromed nylon has it's flaws at times and we can not explain why some chroming holds perfectly while yet others do exactly what your reel is doing. It could be the type of oils that some use have a negative effect, We do know that those who fish in saltwater experience the problem with the chrome much more than fresh water anglers ever will as saltwater is very caustic to chrome as it is so many things. The factory has supposedly developed a new chroming process and that process or a change in materials will begin sometime next year. I shall leave it up to you as to how you would like to proceed, simply let me know as we shall always take care of our customers. Refreshing to have customer service that cares.
  5. Been using a Wavespin reel for the past year or so, and like the operation and design. But, the chrome paint on the reel is flaking off. Anybody having similar problems?
  6. On a recent fishing trip, twice I was hooked up with a decent size fish, guessing four pounds or so, and twice the bass through the hook after jumping. One time on a crank, and the other a texas rig. What do you like to do when your catch goes air-born?
  7. I would like to get better at reading my "fish-finder". I have a Humminbird 797, with side imaging. Any ideas where I can some good tips for what I am seeing in the screen??
  8. Ok, all these great replies, brings me to a new question. If you are a user of snaps do you use swivel snaps, or snaps only?
  9. Do you keep the split ring on your lures or take them off?? I've tried both ways and can't tell much deference. What is your theory???
  10. I was talking with a man the other day, and he was telling me about casting spoons. The one thing that really got my attention was that he told me, these spoons are a great way to cover allot of water in short time. I have never tired the type of lure before. Is a casting spoon the same as a jigging spoon? What size, weight should I look at for bass? Anything that will help me locate fish faster, sounds like something I want to try. Thanks for any ideas.
  11. Received my new WaveSpin Real in the mail today. Hope that I did not fall victim to another gimmick fishing tool. Although after a little checking, I think they may be on to something with this one. Can't wait to spool it up and give it a try for "reel". Like to know what you think about this new style reel. Check out there link http://www.wavecast-reel.com/index.html
  12. Have not fished it YET all though I am going to give it a try soon. Did not know about this lake till I found your post, and it is only about 1.5 hours from home. That's why I love this site. Looking at the Army Corps map, I don't get the circle thing either. I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully I will be there before you're trip there and I'll have some info for you.
  13. Does anyone know, or recommend a charter boat on Lake Erie. Out of the Geneva Oh area. Looking to do some spring Walleye and Small Mouth fishing. Thanks all
  14. Nice Idea Vic, if it were up to me it's worth a buck knife (is that what F&S gives to the printed tips) Thanks again for the tips. I think that I will try the bobbin threader also. But, Vics idea is great when all you have is the real in hand.
  15. There has to be some kind of tool to help get my line through the eye of my bait-casters. Been doing some night fishing and it is hard enough with the sun to help, by flashlight it is even harder. I have looked a Cabelas and BassPro, with no luck. Any other ideas, or should I come up with my own invention. Then maybe I can retire and fish full time!
