Where's Shamrock?

Featured Replies

Hey guys major let down, no Slice Shamrock match. What happened to Ken? I missed whatever they said. Turned it on just in time to hear it was gonna be someone else and Kimbo. I was looking forward to seeing what was gonna happen.

SUNRISE, Fla. --There was a lot of bad blood between heavyweights Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock. During Friday's weigh-in at AtlanticBank Center, each man vowed to punish the other.

But their battle will have to wait. Shamrock suffered a cut over his left eye during a practice session Friday afternoon.

Hours before the bout, the Florida State Athletic Commission determined that Shamrock was unfit to fight.

"It appears that he was warming up as he stated, rolling over and received a head butt, which resulted in a laceration over his eye," said Dr. Allan Fields of the Florida State Athletic Commission. "He received six sutures in the eyebrow.

"He explained that he wanted to fight; however for his safety, we have rules. Anyone with a recent laceration cannot go participate in a fight."

The hostility between Slice and Shamrock reached the boiling point during Friday's weigh-in. While posing for the traditional stare down, Slice turned his back to Shamrock.

Angered by the gesture, Shamrock shoved Slice and the fighters nearly came to blows. All that prevented a full-scale brawl was the quick action of each fighter's entourage, many of whom jumped between the two men.

"He turned his back to me at the weigh-in," Shamrock said. "That's disrespectful. I hope they put this fight together again. He deserves to get a beating and I want to give it to him."

With Shamrock unable to perform, Seth Petruzelli stepped in and accepted the fight on short notice. Petruzelli was scheduled to face Aaron Rosa in a bout that wouldn't be televised.

Thanks for the story. Wow only 14 seconds. I was looking forward to atleast 1 round.

Man, that was a let down wasn't expecting kimbo to go out like that not at least that quick, so much hype for nothing :-/

Something's fishy about Shamrock getting a mysterious cut just before the match.

And Kimbo vs. Seth? Can someone please put up the 'FacePalm' picture for me? That was pathetic. It's hard to believe that the entire Elite XC organization is riding on Kimbo Slice. They really need to sign Tito Ortiz and a few other big names cause I don't think Kimbo can carry the torch alone, especially getting TKO'd in 14 seconds.

Five Bass I was thinking the same thing. Get everyone excited to watch it with the Shamrock Slice match and then it's gone.

Actually Yahoo had an article up yesterday saying that right now Kimbo was the only thing carrying the Elite XC. They pretty much said if he had lost to Ken that was the end of the XC. They also discussed how he hasn't had any major fights yet. So maybe was teh plan all along?

Kimbo would've lost his last fight if it would've went to the judges decision. The ref saw the opportunity to stop it (and hand Kimbo the win) once Kimbo finally  opened the guys ear up. That was BS 'cause they let them fight bleeding WAY worse than he was when they stopped it.

I didn't see that article but Kimbo has been Elite XC's meal ticket since day 1. They really wanted him to mow through some people early, giving him time to work on his ground skills. Seth threw a major wrench in that plan last night. I'm pretty happy about it. Maybe Kimbo will just disappear now.

If I would've been at the fight last night, I would've demanded my money back. Shamrock has prepared for and been in too many fights to be acting stupid in practice and get cut up. Thats why I think something is fishy. At the weigh in Kimbo and Shamrock had to separated because they were going to throw down right there. LOL! HYPE! PURE HYPE! It was the classic bait and switch.

I think when they talked with Tito last nite at the fight he said he will be a member soon.

They def. need more than Kimbo..

5BL- I turned it on and saw the interview with Shamrock before the event started and he looked ticked! I agree with you...for someone who has been fighting for so long, I don't think that injury could have happened in practice either.

This is only my 2nd exposure to MMA (both on CBS and both Kimbo's fights).  Both times I've felt like I was watching a fixed fight/match.

The thing is that Elite XC has just started and they're pretty much just signing whoever they can at this point. One sided matches will be common for a while and they may look fixed at times. Watching a UFC event is much more entertaining because the fighters are more evenly matched. If you want to see some really good fights, try to watch some of the WEC fights on Versus. WEC is good stuff.

Shamrock,s all done.... Tito end his career

He did. 3 times in a row.  ;D

Anybody hear about the Elite XC people telling Seth Petruzelli before the fight with Kimbo that they didn't want him to take Kimbo down during the fight?

Elite XC is circling the drain. Trying to fix fights so their biggest star doesn't get beat. So much for that plan! LOL!! Way to go Seth!

I love MMA but it is hard for me to get into it as much as I would like to because I have no satellite or digital cable which means I have no pay-per-view or VS.

I do keep up with the UFC though...thats easy.

Man, Kimbo got demolished.  I sure wish they would quit feeding him these below average fighters.  Not taking anything away from Seth but Shamrock...c'mon!!!  I am glad he got exposed because a lot of people were talking about how great he is.  He has heavy hands but as you can see with Chuck, those don't cut it anymore.
