I have to give an informative speech on oct. 23rd in my speech class. I want to give a speech about the economy, but I don't know what about the economy that i want to specifically talk about.

Anyone have any ideas they might want to share so I can brainstorm and contemplate about?

I want to deliever a good useful speech about economy that will help my fellow classmate make a good finacial deceison in the future. lol.

You could talk about like were you think the economy went wrong like the start of the downfall or how to fix it...idk just some ideas

That might be a little bit of a "touchy" subject if you don't stick to the facts. If you keep your opinion out of it no one can question you, thus not resulting in a p*ssing match.

Debt/Credit would be a good place to start.

You could compare and contrast our current economic situation with previous economic downturns(i.e. great depression, carter admin, late 80's, and now). Than discuss how the government adressed the problem and highlight how the market recovered after each.

How about explaining how lenders base interest rate based on what the Fed Does

Thwn explain the difference between a fixed and variable rate mortage?

It might make researching easier if you stick with your local economy.  You probably already know and understand it.  Other locals will identify with that easier too.  The post above that said stick with the facts and leave your personal opinion out of it will help in the long run.  Good advice.  Good luck.

I think that might be a tough subject to do without putting opinion in it ... turning it into a persuasive speech.

That's a valid point you have there.....but to do it on a federal government level might put you on the terrorist watchdog list.
