I have a 6lb Yorkie and for the past two days she has had runny poop, not diahrea, just runny, and tonight she threw up her food. She doesn't act sick but how long should I wait until I take her to the vet. She is acting normal wanting to play and everything I just don't want to wait too long.

I would say as long as it is still drinking and not getting dehydrated I would give it a few days. Because it is so small if it isnt drinking I wouldnt wait too long.

Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing, she is still drinking and eating and playing. I'll give it another day or two.

not to scare you or anything, but last year I lost my chocolate lab named champ who had the same symtoms your describing.  This went on for a few days and then he just collaped right in front of me and my wife off of the back porch.  We took him to the vet and he had injested a handful of rocks that he could not pass.  By the time it was over, he didnt make it out of surgery and it was a tough situation.  So I say take the dog to the vet ASAP just for good measure.

Cant hurt to take your dog now, if its nothing it sets your mind at ease. If it is something you may have time on your side by going early. Best wishes...

My dog did the same.  She must've developed some type of allergy to grain based dog foods.  We switched to a sweat potato based food and the problems are gone.

I say go to the vet.  Since dogs can't talk, we have to pay attention to any changes in normal behavior to alert us to things that are going wrong.  About a week after I got my dog (from a shelter) he started having the runs.  I figured it was just an adjustment from the shelter food to the food that I was giving him.  Three days later he had lost 10 pounds (20% of his 50 lbs) due to intestinal worms.

Think about it, if your infant child were doing the same thing, you would probably call the doc
