It depends on what I feel like cooking. I've done Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Greek, Spanish, etc. I almost never feel like cooking a turkey.

People assume because I was born around thanksgiving I automatically like turkey and all those other thanksgiving foods. Nope I hate it more every year. So saying that I have always had a non traditional thanksgiving.

I don't think he's talking about turtles.  ;)  maybe gs

I think the traditional roast turkey has to be about the blandest of all dishes.  The only reason it is used so much is that it's a cheap way to feed a lot of people.  Once I start having my own thanksgiving dinners, I'll probably do a standing rib roast or lamb crown roast in place of turkey.  Yeah, I know it'll be a lot more expensive, but it will taste so much better.

Growing up, when we had our holiday's at my Grandma's house, the main course was either risotto (traditional Milanese style) or ravioli (the fathers would cook them in two big pots in the basement, the kids would take turns bringing them up a batch at a time).

Now, it's more traditional... boy, I sure miss being a kid sometimes!
