Spot Remover

Featured Replies

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  Last year, I remember I caught a lot of fish with a spot remover pro and a worm on it.  This year, I can't seem to get the magic working.

I like to use the spot remover pro because of the spring instead of the screw.  I have been using thinner "trick" worms on it.  Last year, I can't remember what I put on it.  It might have been Senkos.  I'm fishing the same water at the same time of year.  The conditions may be different.

I know I should keep a journal, but with four kids running around, it is hard to tie their stuff on and remember what I did when I got home.

Help a brother out.

Mark

Me and my partner uses Zoom Finesse, Berkley Hand Pour Finesse and Zoom Baby Brush Hogs on the Spot Remover Pro and we have had spots up to 4 lbs and largemouth up to 5.5 lbs. We primarily fish them on the river banks with a lot of cover with a depth range of 10-15ft.

I have noticed this, where we fish is above the dam, when the water is calm the bite is slow and when they start pulling water the bite heats ups like crazy on the Spot Remover Pro.

The only thing I do not like is the slow fishing of this technique, I like to fish at a moderate speed. I think that's the biggest thing of fishing the Spot Removers is being patient and knowing when to bump it.

Change techniques.

The shaky head bite is OFF at the lake I fished this morning.   I fished some sandy shoals with Football Head Finesse jigs/Zoom Finesse Worms and some Spot Remover Pros/Zoom Trick Worms and got nary a bite.  I've been having decent luck with them all spring.

But today I didn't have any luck until I rigged my finesse worms on a Slider Head and flipped the nearby dock and pier.  All got several bass on the same finesse worms I was using the the football heads.   The main shoal I was fishing was only a few yards from the pier.   The worm was fine, the presentation and location made the difference.

Right now were having cloudless, relentlessly hot days.  It was nearly 90 degrees by 9:00AM.   The fish I found were deep, in about 10 feet of water, directly in the shade of the pier.

Im tearing them up right now with the 3/16 Spot Remover w/ *** finesse worm(junebug). Im have much better results with this worm than the Zoom finesse in the same color. I think the *** worm has better action and floats more. For those that think finesse only catches small fish, I caught a 23 1/4" 7 lbs fish this morning on that combo.

For any Shakey Head fishing including these Spot Removers, I highly recommend the 6" Berkley Hand Pour Finesse in Prizm Shad and Triple Margarita. They have a very strong smell which I believe is a huge factor in this technique. We have caught some awesome spots on these hand poured finesse worms.

Just my two cents ;D

Spot Removers are not shaky heads.

I know that. I call most jig heads in that category shaky heads.

Speaking of texas rigging a worm. I say it a lot. But I hardly ever do it. I almost always texpose rig a worm. Except when I'm shaky heading with a spot remover. The fish never minded my terminology.
