It is an awesome walk the dog bait. Caught a bass on it the first time I used it.

Sorry about describing walking the dog. I just don't know how to. But I am certain others can chime in on it.

I think it is easy to walk the dog with it and the river Smallies really seem to like it.

Very easy to walk the dog with due to the weight shifting inside. A very good lure although not my personal preference.

Without getting into to much detail just put a little slack in your line and give a downward or slightly sideways twitch with your wrist, dont pull the lure with your arm or crank it, and you will see the lure come alive. After you twitch it you will find more slack in your line then you must crank around 1/2 to a full turn of the handle and twitch again.Do this once or twice and you will be able to syncronize the winding with the twitching to make a fluid motion.

Tip: the amount of slack in the line can give the lure a different action and sound as does how hard and sharply you twitch it.

Tip:Also experiement with speeds and pauses. You will find after you get good that there is a hundred ways to work one of these, but whatever you do keep the same rhythm and cadence throughout the retrieve. The constant beating and or pausing is what will irritate the fish many times.

Tip:Keep it close to cover and weedlines.Cast down dropoff breaklines that you find on sonar.Cast across points.Use when you see fish busting bait, throw right into the rings they leave on the water.

Hope this helps :o I am not the master at decribing things but am good at showing.

I really like the rapala skitter walk, it is an excellent walking bait.  Bass_finatic described walking the dog fairly well; just lightly twitch the bait with your rod tip down.  The lure will dart back and forth.  Generally, you want to keep it moving.  Once you try it a few times you will get the hang of it.  Good luck!

I'm curious about the skitter walk, how does it compare to the Rebel Pop-R?  I can't find them locally so I'll have to get one online.
