Any helpful "Doctors"??

Featured Replies

This kinda goes along with Muddy's post about his shoulder. It made me think about the pain I had last year. If I throw a crankbait for half a day or I am actually catching fish throughout the day my left arm will tingle when I cast. I am Right handed but when I draw my left arm over my right shoulder for those long crankbait casts that is when I get the pain. I have never had this feeling before last year. I am stubborn and I don't like the Doctor's office. I am only 23 and I doubt it is anything serious but if anyone has had any similiar pains that make your arm tingle when you cast let me know what your Doctor told you. Or what you did to improve the tingling sensation/pain

Couldn't say it's the same thing, but it sounds real similar to what happens to me occasionaly when I do a lot of hard casting.  I tend to put my arm and shoulder into it more instead of using my wrist.  I  think I end up pulling muscles.

Everytime you cast your body in the shoulder/arm area is experiencing shock stresses it's not used to.  I would suggest if you don't already, start working out and also getting with a physical fitness trainer and describe your casting action that's causing the problem and have them devise some exercises that will help work out those muscle/joint groups not only during the off season but during the season as well.

you could try doing some rotator cuff excercises and see if that helps .type in rotator cuff excercises on the computer or even go to you tube and you will see some videos of people showing  the correct way to do them .

With a tingling sensation it is more than likely a pinched nerve somewhere.  It may be in the arm itself or in your neck.  You may be able to get it to loosen just by stretching out more.  If not then you probably should go see a doctor.

I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on tv.  But it may be a pinched nerve or inflamation.  I experienced something similar-though in my case it didn't just tingle.  Sometimes it throbbed and ached badly.  Anyway, the doc did a nerve test and everything was okay there.  He prescribed prednisone (sp?) (a strong antiinflammatory) and it helped quite a bit.   At least in the short-term.  Since I've been off it, it's creeping back.  I'd recommend you see a pain specialist.

He did stay at a Holiday in Express though!
