ESPN's new site

Featured Replies

Does anyone else hate it as much as me.  The old one was very user friendly and easy to read.  This one IMO is complete garbage.

I do like how the video doesn't start playing automatically.  At first glance I don't like it either, but I am sure we will get used to it.

I don't care for it either, but the customized headlines is a handy feature.

ESPN's site has always been a turd.

Don't they redo it at the beginning of every new year? I don't find it all that bad.

Classic example of 3 things colliding:

1.  Hiring an agency that's not equipped to handle large, complex sites

2.  Too few or no usability tests (or not fully analyzing and implementing the results)

3.  Too many voices demanding to be on the front page - and getting it.

Designing and overseeing large-scale sites is no easy task.  Been there, done that, still do it.  Millions of ways to do it wrong, few ways to do it right.
