I was never in the Scouts growing up, but now that my 8 year old son is I'm getting to experience the Pinewood Derby. He raced

last weekend and just missed finishing in the top six and going

to Districts. Oh well, we had fun building his car together.

I used to love the pine wood derby when I was a cub scout!

I never did well, but it was always alot of fun.

Thanks Bass Fisherman... it is a lot of fun, even for someone as mechanically challenged as myself!  And they now have races for girls, called the Powderpuff Derby.  My daughter's race is in a couple weeks.

My favorite thing in scouts were the pinewood boats. Too much fun.... The BSA shop sells the kits...you take rain gutters and fill them half way up with water...oh the old days...

We did the boats, cars and they had/have like a rocket thing too.  

It was always alot of fun.
