Crawfish Lures in  Florida

Featured Replies

How many people in the Florida use soft plastic crawfish lures? Honestly until recently I didn't know we had crawfish in Florida. My buddy caught one in a minnow net and then I caught about 5 yesterday while catching minnows. So naturally I went out and bought a pack of crawfish. If you do fish crawfish in Florida how well do they produce for you.

I have a lot of success with the zoom ultra vibe speed craws.  We have caught more than 20 in the last few weeks carolina rigging a speed craw and fishing humps and drop offs in the local phophate pits.  I also use the Bitters bat t-rigged.

I have various craws and on their own I have not much luck with them to date, but I have just started fishing a jig and that has been pretty good on the local ponds I hit.

FWIW, I have only been fishing 3 years and each year pick a bait/lure to learn about so my earlier lack of success with t-rigged craw could be "user error" as I am just trying this approach this summer.

I voted "Knew we had crawfish but don't use", because that is the closest.

I use crawdads in the Santa Fe river with good results. Also use crawdad shaped and colored cranks.Catch mostly Suwannee bass on these but the occasional largemouth too.

Use some of the times and they produce.  Like crawdad trailers on jigs.

i had to clean out 5 coughed up crawdads in my live well from the fish i caught on my gambler flappy daddy's, :)

I get to fish your wonderful Florida lakes three or four times a year and I get to catch your wonderful bass all the time I'm there and 75% on flipping Tx rigged Craws or Carolina rigging Craws or Jig 'n 'Craw Trailer.

The other 25% are jumping in the boat waving a white Flag.... ;D

(really the other 25% come on top and cranks)

If it looks like food and acts like food it will be eaten.

Curiousity killed the cat(bass)

How many worms do you see swimming around in the water?

That being said I dont see any reason that a craw imitator wouldn't catch fish in a body of water that is completely devoid of craws.
