Our house burned last Thursday and I feel like the luckiest person in the world . my wife and I escaped with minor injuries.

One thing that has been reconfirmed is how people come to the aid of their fellow men in their darkest hour of need.

Believe me there are many , many wonderful people in this old world and I think God I have had the privilege to meet many of them over the last week.

Please say a little prayer for my family.

Dang man, that sucks. My prayers definitely go out to ya'! Hope everything's gonna be okay! :'(

Man I hate that will keep you in our prayers and if there is anything I can do just give me a pm.

how did the fire start and what were the damages like?

Sorry to hear that man..  That sucks.  Did you loose your fishing stuff as well.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Glad you guys are alright!!

d**n that sucks! Sorry too hear that man. I hope things work out for you.

You are focusing on the right thing...your families safety.  I lost 3 family members to a fire a few years back and when I see someone lose their home it brings back terrible memories.  You'll get back on your feet.  Just keep being thankful you are safe.

I can't even fathom a total loss such as the one you experienced.  My prayers go out to you and yours.

It was an electrical fire and the inside was gutted with damage to the roof and outside of the house .

Six to twelve months to get back living in the house.

Lost all my rods and reels , plastics but most of the crank baits and spinners made it.

My two oldest boys have enough equipment to hook me up until I get the insurance money for the loss.

sorry to hear that. it is a tough thing to go through the best thing is everyone is safe. we lost our home in a fire the summer before my senior year, my dad and i were fishing, my mom and 3 sisters were home it happened late at night when all were asleep but thank god all got out safe we lost everything made it hard on the girls for the up comming school year. its something you don't forget. that was the last time dad took me or went fishing with me.

So sorry to hear of your loss. At least you and your wife are OK. The house and it's contents can be replaced, although the insurance companies can be a little difficult to deal with.

Good luck,

Falcon

Sorry to here that, it's absolutely terrible.

My parents lost their house to a fire just over two years ago.  They had lived there for 25 years and it was a total loss.  They were inside watching tv while the fire started in the garage.  My mom heard something exploding and went to look and saw the flames.  The parents and my sister got out with only one handful of stuff.

They now have a brand new house and brand new stuff, but it was definately a tramatic experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Sorry to hear that dude, glad to hear that everybody is OK though.

My prays are with you and your family.

Sorry to hear it man but your family is okay and that's great.

Maybe a little early to worry about this but I'll go ahead and say it. As far as the insurance goes, make sure you review your policy on how much they'll cover inside the house and that it's 'replacement value'. They may try to talk depreciation on some things but hold your ground that they need to replace what you had.

If you had a discounted reel then they owe you a comparable reel since you can't buy that one anymore. Don't tell yourself 'I never used that anyway' or something like that. They should replace everything. If you stick to your guns you'll most likely come out even or a little ahead.

Good luck bud.
