Jitter bugs , buzz baits , spinnerbaits with large colorado blade.

Catt I feel like you've posted this before in a few night fishing threads  ;)

I agree that using the same baits will work, but locations can be different sometimes. What i mean by this is at night i find that boat ramps and rip-rap near the ramp, which are busy all day and keep the fish away will usually hold a couple of nice bass late at night.

Bass do not morph into a new creature just because the sun sets and yes I have caught bass around areas where there is a lot of traffic but I can assure the bass were there during the day as well.

Hiding yes but still there  ;)

As usual Catt you put it better then I could. What I meant is what you said, Areas that are full of traffic during the day often have bass that are now willing to bite at night. So don't overlook spots that during the day you would avoid because of traffic or heavy shore fishing

I am also new to night fishing.  I gave it a go last saturday night.  I was a good number of bass when at 12:33am I hooked into a 19" LM Bass.  I didn't have a scale, but I guessing he was about 4 1/2 lbs.  I caught it on a t-rigged brush hog-june bug color.  It was awesome catching that bass at night.

Also, I feel that a night you can "feel" more bites.  Since you can't use your sight, your sense of touch gets heightened.

You can bet that I will be on the lake more during the night.  ;)

Buzzbaits.

Night fishing areas: I normally fish the same areas fished during the day with one exception; night lighted areas. Lighted docks, lighted boat ramps, a row of camps with lights along the bank or a single camp with a light near the water. I know a killer spot on Toledo Bend where a road parallels the water's edge with several streetlights within 10 yards of the water. These lighted areas are also productive during a new moon and should be fished thoroughly.

Shallow verses deep water: I have not noticed a distinct advantage one way or the other. I will normally fish both areas thoroughly staying with the one that produces the best results. However shallow water does offer a greater opportunity to use different baits.

I spend a lot of time night fishing and my experience is different. The majority of my 8lb plus fish have been caught at night using different baits.(and yes I have tried these techniques during the day)

The most productive bait is by far a large colorado blade black spinnerbait. I like to fish these on humps, points or flats coming off of a deeper channel. I let the spinnerbait hit the bottom then give it a pop and slow roll it back to the boat. There are many days when a spinnerbait won't get bit during the day but it nearly ALWAYS produces at night...slow rolling is key.

Although I don't get the numbers with this bait, i get better size. The big gals like a 10" Berkely Power Worm. My favorite color is Tequila Sunrise and I like to fish this in any type of pysical structure especially wood or grass (although tickling the grass with a spinnerbait might get your rod jerked in the water) ;)

Anyway, there is always 2 ways to skin a cat and this is how i skin mine.

Humps, points or flats coming off deeper channels are prime structure day or night; winter, summer, spring, or fall.

There are areas uh certain pieces of structure that are very lure specific, while one lure may produce one or two bass others will produce numbers of bass and numbers of big bass. Knowing which lure to use on which piece of structure comes with lots of seat time.

I agree that most locations are the same but lure choice and presentation are much different for me.
