Carolina Rigging deep clear lakes, Baits?

Featured Replies

One of my favorite lakes to fish is a lake with a lot of deep wood and deep points with a depth visibility of about 6-8 feet with glasses on.

My favorite baits to throw in this lake are deep crankbaits, Shakey worms, texas rigged worms with a heavy weight and of course a drop shot.

Tomorrow I will be giving carolina rigging a try in the deeper areas as well as the rigs mentioned above and was wondering what are some of your go-2 baits for this method?

Im going to be targeting some bigger fish so I'm thinking about bulking up my bait a bit without making it look too unnatural...I'm thinking since the bait will be fished in anywhere from 15-25 foot of water. i was going to throw either a lizard or a berkley superhog to give off more vibrations to make it easier to zone in on..would you agree?

P.S I remember reading an article where shaw grisby said he catches the majority of his carolina rig bass on lizards..he said the bass seem to like the lizards more but he does not know why ;) Just a word to the wise

So any tips? Thanks guys  ;)

Well, you can put just about any plastic on the end of a C-rig, as you stated.

However, if the lake is as clear as you say, a more subtle bait may be a better choice.  Perhaps a french fry or a straight tail worm (like a Zoom Trick worm) would be a better choice.

Then again, I'm not a bass  ;D

a zoom trick worm, or a zoom trick worm
