For Those Of You That Wear Contacts

Featured Replies

I have MAJOR allergy problems in my right eye only, but it has never been in my left eye.  It gets so bad sometimes that I have to just take my contacts out and wear my glasses.

Do you guys know of a solution to get these allergies out of right eye so I can wear my contacts more?  I have been to my eye doctor but he hasn't seemed to help me much.

I guess it depends on what your allergies do to your eye. My eyes used to get irritated when I was cutting lawns all the time. But, that was mostly from getting little pieces of stuff in my eyes (yes I had safety glasses on).

Try getting some eye drops. The Visine redness relief drops were always good for me. There are some new ones I saw a commercial for I think Visine multisymptom. I've also heard putting your eye drops in the frindge can help provide more relief.

Not sure about the allergies themselves but would put a vote to laser surgery to get rid of the contacts/glasses for good. Had mine done 11 1/2 years ago, one of the best things I ever done for myself.

Hey Dock Master,

Bausch & Lomb makes allergy relief drops called Alaway.  At one time they were by prescription only, however now are over the counter.  Use about 10 minutes prior to inserting contacts.

After what I saw on the news today about Bausch & Lomb, I don't think I'll be putting anything in my eyes!

And to be safe on all fronts be sure you never take Tylenol or eat peanut butter or eat pistachios or eat spinach or buy Firestone tires or buy Evenflo car seats or.........

When i was younger had the same problem my eye doc. turned me to a product called allergan solutions .its a kit you buy it comes with a soap solution with little pills you drop into the case atnight to clean and it has other crap in the box. i don't really remember as i have outgrown the this but i do remember the pain it was but that stuff helped me out alot.

Dock, if your eye doctor isn't/cant help you; go to a different eye doctor.

ESPECIALLY if you are using contacts!!

i had the same problem in my right eye only....went to the eye dr and he gave me a drop you use daily but wasnt covered on my insurance and cost over 100 dollars per bottle ...best investment i ever made....

after you use it about a week, you dont have to use it everyday...you can drop down. now i dont have to use it at all unless my eye starts bothering me.

x2... Your doctor should be able to recommend something, either Rx or OTC.
