For the hopelessly paranoid

Featured Replies

I recently grabbed one of these:

Got it set up at home to pick up movement and email me video when it does. Got it for a few reasons the biggest being the geek factor (I work in IT and it was just cool). The other was of course home security. The only way you can get into my home without being seen by my neighbors is a set of back windows off our deck. This covers them and if something moves it sends a video to my email and my wife's which hits her phone and lets her know before she gets home that something is going on. I spend a lot of time on the road so I always worry about someone sneaking in on her as well.

One of my clients recently installed a wired variant in his home. In 2 weeks he found his neighbors kids going into his shed, partying in his back yard, his neighbor getting tanked and stumbling through his back yard, His neighbor and family partying in his back yard, and a few other things. Was freaky.

Anyway, any other paranoid folks like myself out there got one of these set up?

Not to make you more paranoid but since it's connected to the internet anyone can actually see what's going on in your house.

My friend here at work has a similar one except the motion sensor triggers the camera to move and follow the object in the room. It also can be set up to play live/streaming in the vista sidebar. Pretty cool.

I actually have it locked down with a firewall, 128 bit encryption and explicit username/password required for access. I am a professional paranoid :D

But of course! What true paranoid would be complete without firearms!? LOL. I got a few myself, my fav is still my semi auto 12 gauge. I load it up with deer slugs though. With 4 little ones in the house, I need accuracy and I am a very good shot.

With the skinning tri-pod in the front yard, and a collection of antlers attached to the garage, and me on the front porch playing the banjo, people know a gun or 2 lives there. ;D

I have 3 lines of defense, the dog, the wife, and me. The dog will bite you, the wife will nag you for bleeding on the floor, and I'll just shoot you to put you out of misery. ;D

Weapon of choice: Ruger P94 40S&W, with a staggered clip of CCI #9 birdshot, then a Quik Shok. ;)
