a 39.....are you kidding me

Featured Replies

i played golf yesterday for the first time in 4 years. the reason i haven't played is because i would rather fish for 5 hours than golf. i had myself down to a 10 hanidicap before i just gave it up.

so yesterday i played inverrary, the west course from the whites (6200 yards). i would have normally played from the tips, but since i had not played in so long, i wanted to make it as painless as possible.

5 bogies and four pars later, i shoot a 39. i shot a 47 on the back and ended up with an 86.

Ah, looks like bass fishing this whole time does wonders for the Golf swing!!   Man, that must have been a great feeling.

I bet it has more to do with your expectation level. You probably went out expecting NOTHING and just swung like your muscles knew how. You eliminated the longest four inches in the game to overcome: between your ears.

I've played twice in the last 2.5 years. First round after 18 months off: 83. Second round a year later: 90. Went out with zero expectations and didn't try any HERO shots. Played to miss a little and came out decent.

Congrats.........

86 is great considering the time off. Last time I played, I broke 100 just like I usually do.....ended up with a solid 109.  ;D

86 is not too bad, especially when you stopped playing for so long.

My best round was a 88 and I was playing once a week until I tweaked my back a few years ago.http://www.bassresource.com/fishing-forum/Templates/Forum/default/embarassed.gif

We used to play the Sabal Palm course in Tamarac back then.

18 holes & cart, 2 hot dogs and a beer for $20

The course had a few holes that were not well maintained but it was fun and the price was right.

Carolina (margate) is a pretty nice course and it is reasonable priced.

Your brain was not in the way.  If you go again in the next year you'd probably crush a 100.  That's been my experience anyway.
