I am going on an elk hunt in early October (9-16). It will be in the Eastern part of the state, in/near the Lolo region.

What type of weather can I expect this time of the year? I have heard that it could snow overnight and then be in the 60's the next day.

I'm just trying to figure out what type/how much clothing I will need.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you going on your own or with a guide/outfitter?

Its a guided trip.  We will be on horseback from Montana into Idaho.  We ride into a spike camp and hunt on horse from there.

I will edit the original post.  The hunt is in Idaho.  I made the post after a shift at work and with a headache!

I expect your guide will be the best source of information.  He has seen it all.
