Plano 3771 box

Featured Replies

Has anyone else used these.  May be the perfect box for cranks, hard jerk baits, topwaters etc.  Same dimensions as 3700 but only1.38" deep instead of 2" so you can fit more boxes in less space (also the thinner box keeps baits from moving around).  The box has almost infinite divider notches as well as straight and slanted dividers so you can custom size the compartments for any bait.  The box is also made in the standard 2" depth but I like the thinner one -  Even DD22's fit in it.  Very flexible and almost no wasted space with one bait per compartment. The only problem is Dick's only had one left and I have not seen them anywhere else.  I am going to change out all of my boxes as soon as I can get more.  The best part is these are half the price of Falcon boxes.

I bought one of each but haven't put anything in them yet.  I'm still trying to make up my mind about tackle storage issues.  I do like the versatility these boxes offer.

Where's the fun in not being able to pull out a snarling mass of treble hooks?   :)

Let's say you can fit 5 baits per row.  That's 20 baits for the 3700 and 25 for the 3771.  For this example we will be able to fit 2 baits in each compartment of the 3700, as it is thicker.  This brings are total baits up to 40.

Now say you can fit 5 3700 boxes in your bag, compartment whatever.  This at a minimum would take ~10".  In the same space you could fit 7 3771's.

7x25 = 175 lures

5x40 = 200 lures

I have both 3700 and 3771 angled and straight.  I think the angle is wasted in the 3700 box because I'm putting more than one lure in a compartment.  Using the angles can save enough space that getting them in and out is a pain.

I really like the angled 3771 for jerkbaits.  There are so many hooks on those that they really need to be separated.

I've also have found that the angle dividers fall out a lot easier than the straight ones, but that's probably how I cut them.  All in all, I'm not totally convinced the angled dividers were worth the extra money.

Just something to think about as you re organize.

I have a few of the 3770's and probably 7 or 8 of the 3771's.    Compared to the regular 3700 series, they are molded much thicker so they aren't as flimsy.  I really like being able to create the perfect size compartment for each bait and these boxes allow me to.  My only complaint with these boxes is that they are heavy.  I would bet that one  3771 box weighs as much as two 3700 boxes.  If your keeping them in a boat there is no need for concern but if you carry a bag full of them you can definitely feel it.  I got mine from Tackle Warehouse because they were half the price of my local shop.
