so, I've always been into all sorts of different types of music, I've played in multiple bands from hard rock to punk to acoustic stuff, but I'm very proud of my current myspace playlist, which is 10 of my favorite southern rock/country classics. sorta getting back to my roots of what I was raised on, and where my heart lies. these represent the particular bands at their best, and while they aren't necessarily the biggest hits, they are some of the best in my opinion. here it is:

1. Statesboro Blues - allman brothers

2. Flirtin with disaster - molly hatchet

3. Train train - blackfoot

4. whiskey bent and hell bound - hank williams Jr.

5. you never even called me by my name - david allan coe

6. Green grass and high tides - the outlaws

7. can't you see - marshall tucker band

8. Long haired country boy - Charlie Daniels Band

9. Fishin' in the dark - Nitty gritty dirt band

10. All I can do is write about it - Lynyrd skynyrd

I know, I'm a hillbilly at heart, but what do you guys think?

Great list, especially #'s 4 and 8.

Although they aren't as heavy as the ones you posted, I'd have to add 1 or 2 from Alabama into the mix.

man,

love it..........good choices...

i have many others that i would have on mine, from all genre's .....

but as for yours........

i enjoy them all!

(need some jethro tull, on that list ;)...... awesome!!)

Nice list bud.Hank Williams Jr is my favorite country singer of all time.

mrlite, I'm right there with ya as far as other genres, my list used to include some pantera, some offspring, less than jake, godsmack, foo fighters, and all sorts of oter stuff, this list was really jsut getting back to my roots, I've been feeling more and more southern every day, so these songs just bring me back.

bassn, I agree, you could make a case for alabama on there, also willy nelson, merle haggard, and a few others, i tried to stick more with the southern rock, tho David allan coe and Hank Jr. aren't really rock, they were influenced some by it.

Marshall Tucker Band, not Molly Hatchet. I have to agree with your list, I am a huge southern rock fan.

I'd switch "Dreams I'll never see" with "Flirtin with Disaster".

Add

"Another mans woman" - Atlanta Rhythm Section.

"If you wanna get to heaven" - Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

"Fast as you" - Dwight Yoakum

cart7t, it was a toss up between the two, I also love that song, but had some slower songs on the list and wanted a driving song from molly hatchet.

the dwight yokum one is good, coulda gone T-R-O-U-B-L-E by Travis tritt too, thats another good one, coulda gone brooks and dunn, or alan jackson and so on and so on, i was limited at 10, and went with those.
