Fenway park

guys, I got to experience one of my dreams in life last night. I've been a Boston Red Sox fan my entire life, even though I'm from florida, I was raised to love them and feel as important a part of red sox nation as anyone else. until last night I had never seen them play in person (have seen a few other MLB games in my life)

well, for my birthday (which was in august), my Father and I flew up and went to the game last night against the angels. WOW it was amazing, the feel of the crowd, the electricity, the area. we went down to the park around 3:30 and checked out the shops on lawkey way, then we ate and drank some beer at boston beer works. then it was time to go in. we watched the big boys for boston take some batting practice, then the angels got their turn.

Before they started the game, they had a ceremony introducing a new foundation set up to help veterans with post traumatic stress disorder, and brain injuries from the wars in the middle east. they honored several vets who had outstanding stories, and I'll tell you, they had the largest ovation of anyone that night, without a doubt... it kinda choked me up, thinking about my friends and those in my generation out there fighting for us, but it was just an outstanding addition to the evening. (and i want to say thank you to all of you who serve us, we really can't say that enough!)

the game was just how I imagined it, we had great seats, in the lodge boxes, only about 30 rows up behind the on deck circle, so we could see everything. got to see all of my favorite players and saw one homer rap around the pesky pole (Jacoby ellsbury) and saw one get driven over the green monster (Jason Bay). got to see Josh Beckett pitch and everyone play, man it was so cool. Unfortunately the sox lost, but its ok, they took two of the three out of the series. Enjoyed singing "Sweet caroline" in the eighth and could feel the energy of that crowd. drank some beer, rooted for the sox, man what a great time!

we flew back today, and i already can't wait to do it agian, hopefully they'll win the next time we go, but I'll tell you, everyone in Boston that we talked to was friendly (for a country boy like me, I sorta worry about dealing with the troubles sometimes associated with bigger cities) and it was well worth the 6 hours of flying to go for that one magical experience! :D

Glad you had such a great experience there.  Good read, makes me miss the ballpark, lol!

I will be there October 1st... 8-)

Never seen a game there but I saw Phish there a couple months ago and it's definitely a very cool place just to be.  Tons of history in there.
