Actually, I am a Yankees fan and loved the World Series, which is the only baseball I watch.

Otherwise, I no longer care about about MLB and the players.  :)

that is a great story, and even being a yankee hater, I have no issues with girardi, or most of the players... just the organization, and the fans. most seem to be really obnoxious.

I assume you haven't met a Philadelphia Fan (of any team).  They set the obnoxious bar pretty high.

  I'd say chalk it up to good old midwestern values.

He grew up almost literally down the street ( maybe 5 miles down the street). I've umpired his birth town's high school but he went across the river to a Catholic high school. Remote chance I could have umpired a game of his along the way but I doubt it.

actually, My best friend is from Philly,and she can be obnoxious, but it isn't insult you, treat others with disrespect obnoxious, its a I support and love my team obnoxious, and there's nothing wrong with that.
