Brian Kelly. From Cinci, GREAT COACH. I've been a fan of Notre Dame football since I was four. When I was 8 I sent Lou a letter after they lost to Bowden and to my surprise I got a letter back within two weeks. Been diehard since then. Hated Bowden and FSU ever since, too. I'm real excited to see him coach, and see what he can do with a new quarterback, here's the story.

a 33-6 record in three years is pretty incredible. Think of what he can do with the recruitment power Notre Dame has.

I think that's a good move. I don't know a lot about Kelly but from what I understand he keeps moving up to bigger programs and has had success at each of them, and most importantly for Notre Dame, he has done it quickly.

whoa, they just said on ESPN that he is not going to be coaching at the Sugar Bowl against Florida.

They gave him the coach of the year award and asked him to comment on whether or not he was going to Notre Dame and he said he didn't want to say anything. Later in the award show they said that the AD from Cinci called and told ESPN it was true. I guess the AD didn't appreciate Kelly keeping the fact that he was leaving on the down-low.  That sucks. They should have waited until after the bowl game to publicize the decision.

Recruiting means to much to not publicize it. Now is a free period to recruit.  Every second counts.

I know you're right. I just feel bad for the seniors at Cinci who are going to play their final game without their coach.

Well, the thing is, those seniors didn't sign at Cincy knowing he was going to be their coach unless they were jucos.  He has brought them their success though.  Maybe his OC or someone strong minded will take over and play for a HC position much like Stewart done at WVU when Rich Rod left for Michigan. It won't matter much because Florida will eat their lunch IMO.

right, but he helped them do more than they probably ever thought was possible when they first came to Cincinnati. A Stewart-like situation was the first thing I thought of as well.

The odd part is, I really don't see how much this improves ND.  I think Edsel would have been a better choice because they will continue to be a team of all offense and no defense more than likely under Kelly.

You could be very right. Who cares, it's just Notre Dame!

Kelly has done well every where he has coached.

It will be interesting to see how he does at Notre Dame.  :)

Seems like football could wait till the coach finished the season.

I gotta love ND.      Just another successfull college football program that when it wins, takes the hate off of Texas some.

Nay, most are raised to hate Texas!!

  lol.

As a UC alum and former Bearcat athlete I am sickened about coach Kelly.  I will never cheer for ND nor will anyone else in Cincy.  He flat out lied to his players and students, telling them "I'm not going, blah blah"

Dont get me wrong I can think of about 5million reasons why he went but for Gods sake he is walking out on his team on the steps of THE LARGEST game in school history!!!!

I have lost a ton of respect for that man, not that he cares.

I can see the frustration behind the Cincy fans, and it is pretty shallow of him not to caoch a BCS Bowl game. Makes me really question his integrity and loyalty.. Buuuut... LOOK AT HIS RECORD!!!

Cinn. was't going to let him coach in the bowl game , SO DON'T BLAME HIM.

they would if he didn't QUIT.  Of course they wouldn't let him coach once he signed the paper.  Like I said money talks.

I think that NCAAA football should take the NCAA basketball rules to heart.  It states that no coach or university can talk to an athlete or coach until the end of the season.  Just my opinion.

And Yes.. He is a d**n good coach

The only joy I will ever see from this is that yet another team will be able to roll over Michigan....  Personnaly, I think my hatred of Michigan football is still greater than my disdain for Brian Kelly  ;)

I do feel for the kids in the Cincinnati program. They played their hearts out for him and received a Bowl berth only not to be coached by him. Hard to place blame. I am sure ND wanted to fill a vacancy as quick as possible and it is a nice gig. The kids were a bit short changed IMO. Maybe a rule should be in place that it is hands off until after all Bowls are played. :(

I would agree with that.

A slap in the face to the players in my book. Nothing like saying"Hey you guys played great this year and now we have a bowl game with the team that was ranked number one all year and a victory could really put our program on the map. But I'm leaving." It goes agains the entire "team" and "family" feel you have.

And they wonder why so many come to the NFL with a chip on their shoulder and a lack of team concept. I know football is a business whether it be the NFL or the college ranks but they still need to instill the concept of loyalty, team play and integrity in these college players.

Bill Stewart is a joke.  That's what happens when a drunk AD makes a hire after an emotional bowl win.

As far as the NCAA is concerned, the FBS season is over.
