kidney stone

Featured Replies

My second stone in 6 months, by far my worse one yet. got to the ER Saturday morning at 7:09 am in triage by 7:12 am. and in a bed and IV started in the next 5 minutes. Was vomiting because of pain , but then got the Toradol on board and things went much smoother. Still have not passed the stone!!! Nights are the worst 2 Vicodin and 3 to 4 hours of sleep.Between Vicodin, ibuprofen and heating pad pain is much more manageable.  I have been reading on the internet and blame consumption of to may sodas for my excessive kidney stones , 1 about every 18 months. I am hoping with a few changes in diet to be gout and kidney stone free!!!!!!!!!!  Also Hats off the the crew at the Oakdale Hospital ER!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the stones.  My dad told me it's like trying to pee out a sea urchin.  I hope I never get one!!!!

I've known quite a few people who have had kidney stones, need to drink more water and change from eating cheese and salty foods. Hope it passes soon.  Feel better man!

Sorry Bro

I have had one and it IS the single worst pain I have ever felt!!!!   I would rather sit through a weeks worth of "THE  VIEW" than endure that hell again.

Beer, in the past year my girlfirend and grand father had one. Both of their doctors told them to drink beer. Made life much easier, guess it turns the stone into more of a sandy composition so it is much easier to pass.

Also you usually need a lot of calcium in your diet along with the soda to create the stones. It is how they both got them.

Hope and pray you don't have to have it broken up. Lithotripsy (sp) hurts more than passing a kidney stone.

I feel your pain, had one last July, my first one. It was stuck in my ureter and almost caused me kidney damage.

I had to have a retrograde stone extraction, in other words they had to go backwards up my pecker and blast it with a laser. The awkward part is that I work at the hospital they did my surgery at, yep , they all saw my stuff.

Absolute worst pain I have ever had.

There are several different kinds of stones, be sure to get a "stone analysis" so they can tell you WHY it formed in the first place.

Good luck and enjoy the pain meds!

Amen to above advice about having your stone analysed. Mine was caused by eating too much chocolate (Milky Way Bars). I quit the chocolate and have not had any more (knock on wood!). A kidney stone will make you realize you don't want to go to Hell and don't want anyone else to have to go either :'(. NO FUN!

Holy #!$%$#%.  Thanks for talking about this.  As much as I love Diet Pepsi, I'm going to have to give it up cold turkey.  Kidney stone I don't need.  Thanks for the horror stories, guys.

Oh the pain, equivalent to a man giving birth. After passing one I have a renewed respect for women. :'(

x2

I told the doctor to just cut me open and take out whatever the hell it was that was causing the pain. The worst pain I've ever felt.

Another x2.

I spent a couple days peeing thru a strainer so they could analyize the little wretched. It was calcium and sodium, a combination of too many Cokes and vending machine sandwiches.

I had one once, and man, for those that have never had one, imagine ramming a nail through your johnson and then trying to pee while it's nailed to a board...  cringing thinking about it

The stone I had was formed from Calcium and Oxalate.  Oxalate is in a ton of stuff, so I don't know what in particular caused it, but I do know it hurt like a mother.  I feel your pain and I hope you pass it soon.
