Coming to Cleveland. Should I be excited or not ? Right now I'm not too thrilled since he was stripped of his powers in Seattle.

Somebody give me a reason to get excited.

Well, he wasnt working with much in Seattle. (I know Glenn...they had a lot of injuries ;) ) I really think he can turn the Browns around. Is he keeping Mangini? I dont think he should, Mangini hasnt done much as a head coach, plus from recent reports, his players dont like him much.

I definitely think Holmgren will improve the Browns draft picks, which should improve the team overall. He has been in the league a long time and has a bunch of NFL connections and has a reputation around the league as a winner.

I'm not sure if that makes you feel any better but if the Browns dont want him, please send him to Oakland. I'd be happy to have Holmgren calling some shots.

Well, the 'Hawks stripped Holmgren of his GM duties while in Seattle.  Nobody could see why.   But then again, the 'Hawks wouldn't allow Zorn to become coach, and nobody could see why at the time either.  ::)

Sure, why not, he's an improvement over what you've got now.

There were those who thought he was a better coach after he was no longer a GM.

I'll take just about anybody right now that can turn my Browns around, even if just a little bit.

Get to work Mikey!

If he duplicates his success at Greenbay with Clevelands level of talent, look out. I think this will be good for the Browns.

detroit would kill for him.

Unfortunately we got a crappy GM.

No more Mangini, that alone should have you dancing in the streets.

;D ::) ;D

The Walrus is coming to town, I'm pumped. He'll be the Pres. of football ops, and will do gm duties until he hires a new one. Mangini will stay as coach next year, but will be on very thin ice. We have a ton of cap space, if it's not an uncapped year, 11 draft picks, and a distinguished and well regarded pres., which should help to lure the right free agents here.

For all of the Mang

detroit would kill for him.

Detroit would kill for respect.

They can have him.

If he does a good job, it will cease when the rumors of him going to a different franchise start to swirl.

Ron Wolf still blames him for the loss of SB 32.

I am a cowboys fan first and foremost. However, living in Ohio most of my life I root for the browns as well. I am not sold on Holmgren. Ron Wolf built the team in Green Bay. Wolf, not Holmgren, did the drafting, trading, and free agent signings. Holmgren coached the team. Look at his years in Seattle when he was coach and GM??? He had more success when he was just the coach. He will not coach in Cleveland, and that seems to be his strongest area. I am not a Mangini fan either. But as a fan, you have to look at the way he has the team playing now, even though they have had several key players go down to injury. The Browns are playing much harder now than they did early in the year which says these players have bought into his system.

Whatever the team decides to do, I wish they would give the next pres, gm, and coach at least five years to build and draft and acquire the types of players needed for that particular system. Holmgren is a 4-3 defensive guy, and the browns have spent the last 5 years or so trying to build a 3-4 defense with 3-4 types of players...albeit not very successfully.

Hire with a plan, and allow the person(s) hired time and resources to execute that plan. I have heard thru various sources that cleveland is offering a 10 year contract to holmgren. They will already be paying Savage, Crennel, Kokinis, and possibly Mangini for the next 3-5 years. Ten years is a long time. Hopefully it works out. I would like to see the browns at least competitive in their division and the AFC again.

Last thing, they need to pay Cribbs.

Thanks for the input guys but there is nothing pointing to him to be able to run an entire football operation.

His strong point is coaching, that's it. As I said earlier his one shot as a GM apparently failed and our idiot owner has hired him to run the whole organization.

I hope he has the intelligence to hire the right people to run the differant area's of the team and bring this town a winner.  Only time will tell.
