After fishing one for a couple of hours and taking a couple of bass, my senko was looking pretty beat up. So, I reversed it...putting the hook thru the small end. I caught one more bass; the Senko did have a different look to it fished this way. Am I wasting my time or is this a valid rigging technique?

If you caught fish on it it sounds valid to me.

I'll add that often I find myself rigging a bait backwards if a good bite has stopped or I know there's still a big fish in there but is wanting something a bit different. the appeal of a senko doesn't really change much backwards, but the subtle difference can draw strikes - you proved that, of course.

try rigging a crayfish lure backwards and working it slower...bass get mad! they see those claws go up in defense and watch it slowly charging towards them...gulp! dead crawdad...or so they thought.

Tear up one end, turn it around.  Tear up that end, wacky rig it.

There is no wrong way to fish a Senko.

I rig them backwards when fishing in weeds. The slender end comes through the weeds better than the blunt end.

         I will rig a Senko "backwards" when fishing around vegetation and I will make sure the bait covers the knot and tag end of the line...Also a good slathering of Jack's Juice!!

I do it all the time.  

We care a lot more than the fish do I bet.
