Alright so my buddy had a virus on his Gateway m-285-e which is a tablet laptop. I attempted to just reinstall windows xp, but it wouldn't work. It gave me an error saying that the harddisk could not be found. I then attempted to put windows 7 on. Windows 7 went on perfect, I have three errors right now in device manager. I have a mass storage controller error, ACPI/MS tabletbutton error, and ACPI/FPI2004 error. I downloaded and ran suggested drivers, but the touch screen still won't work. Any advice?

check the gateway website for the correct drivers. You should be able to look up drivers using the laptop serial number or product number to ensure you have the right drivers.
