Car detailing ???

What can I use to remove dry wax from the black plastic door handles and mud flaps on my truck? The kid at Autozone had a deer in the headlights look on his face when I asked him. He then showed me some headlight lens restorer  and said maybe this will work. I thought about ArmorAll or some type of silicone spray but wasn't sure if that would remove the wax and probably would leave a greasy film on the handles. Any thoughts?

Thanks

My brother works at a detail shop.  I just tried calling him to ask what he would recommend but he didn't answer.  As soon as he calls me back, I will let you know.

Ok he called back.  He said it really depends on what kind of wax you used.  He said in most cases the wax should just scrub off.

I told him I am sure you have already tried that so he said that the a headlight lens restorer would probably do the trick.

Meguiar's PlastX

Mothers Back to Black

Later, :)

I had some wax dry up on a black plastic part of my car and I used an Eagle 1 detailing spray. It was one of those ones that you'd use if you were cleaning up your car at a car show. Sorry I don't have the bottle right now to see the name.

easiest way is to not get wax on the plastic... many of the trim pieces, especially if they're soft, will actually absorb the wax which makes it very hard to get out.  You can cover it easily with any plastic polish, but you will most likely need some elbow grease to actually take it out.  If you're a lil sloppy with the rag when waxing, use some painters tape along the areas you don't want wax to get on.  Will save alot of headaches in the long run.
