Lucky Craft

Featured Replies

I was just wondering what everybody thinks about Lucky Craft lures. Are they worth the money? Are only some worth it? If so, which ones are and which aren't?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I sure think they are.

Some of my favorites:

Pointer 78

Sammy 100

Gunfish 95

RC 1.5

BDS 2

LV 100

Flat Mini SR, MR

GDS Mini DR

How could something so gorgeous not be worth it?

How could something so gorgeous not be worth it?

Well, my wife has had me second guessing that question a time or two  ;) ;D.

Women don't count. ;)

I have about 20 LC lures. Some of them do not work for me but 2 really do the trick sometimes with finnicky bass. The 1.5 crankbait that is chartreuse with a dark top and has red spots down the sides is a killer. The other is a 65DD in a Tennessee Shad coloring with a hint of flourescent green on the sides is the other.

Forgive me for not knowing the exact names of them. My brain has just endured a very long work day and my tackle is in my boat at the storage facilty.

I will say this though. After losing 7 or 8 of the crank baits and a few of the DD's to snags and smart fish that head for under water timber it sickens the heart to lose these lures and then stand in BPS staring at the lure rack justifying buying more.......and then you remember the bass you caught and you reach out and put two or three in your cart and say to yourself "I won't lose these, I learned from the last few fish that outsmarted me"......Ahem!

By the way Rico makes a really cool Tennessee Shad Popper at $23 each. They bust fish like no other. They're topwater lures. You'll never lose one of them.....I'm on my fourth one now. ;)

I love Lucky Crafts. I own about 25 and 15 are flat cb's. the other ones are rc's and skt's.

Tom is totally correct.

I like the Sammy's.

The RICOs are outstanding.

Only problem I have with a Sammy is the hookset, which is mostly my fault.  I have to remember to SWEEP to rod to the right or the left and not set the Sammy like a plastic worm.

For some reason the bass like the RICOs.

Expensive?  Yes.

Do they produce strikes?  Yes they do.

I picked up two of Zell Roland's XCalibur Zell Pop XZ2's and I am looking forward to throwing them.  They are priced around $15 each so if I lose one I won't be as upset as I would be if I lost a RICO.

Sometimes I wonder if these beautiful baits are designed to catch us fishermen as opposed to catching the fish?  ;)

Sam, you'll love the excalibur pop r, great bait. In addition to some of the Lucky Craftbaits mentioned earlier Ive done welll with the new Rick Clunn Wake Bait 2.75" along with the the Marty Stone BDS 1.2 for a finnesse "limit getter" crankbait.

Type sammy or pointer into the search bar....you'll find pages of praise.  Also, type live pointer into the search bar... not so much praise there.
