So you always here people using black jitter bugs and dark plastics and jigs and even black spinner baits for night time bass fishing but why dont you ever here anyone say anything about using black crank baits for night time fishing. If they hit black spinnerbaits and plastics why wouldnt they hit a black crankbait?

They will.  I use a black with white herringbone Bagley DB3 and Bagley Killer B2, and both work very well at night.  I also have a Rapala floating minnow that I painted black for night fishing.

It doesn 't need to be black, it only needs to make sound and /or emit strong vibration.
