I got bit by a bat this morning. what a weird thing to have happen. I have to go get rabies shots until and if they can prove the bat doesn't have rabies.

The little creature landed on my fishing line as I was reeling, and got caught by the rod tip. While trying to free the little rascal, he bit my right middle finger.

Strange. Oh, by the way, I did kill him and have the health department coming tomorrow to take him to be tested for rabies.

Did it happen like this?

No, the bat that bit me was much bigger than that one. I was lucky to get away alive

In Virginia, 1 in 10 bats are alleged to carry rabies. 

Better to get the shots and not need them.  Once you start showing symptoms, which my be a month down the road, you are dead.  It's 100% fatal once you start showing symptoms.

I had one get tangled in my fishing line a couple of weeks ago.

I was close to home so I carried the rod home, got heavy gloves, then cut the hook off the end.  I cut the other end and he fell to the ground, apparently was able to shake free of the short piece of line and took off.  They buzz my line all the time but this one just didn't have his radar working.

Go on YouTube and search for Rabies or Hydrophobia.  See videos of some people with advanced Rabies.  Absolutely pitiful and all now dead.

The Doctor told me the same thing, if you don't get the shots, and get the disease, your options get limited to ONE, and it is a bad one.

I started the shots yesterday. SIX of them to start. then I get one more shot in three days, 7 days, and 14 days. Better safe than a rabid maniac.

Although.....I have a short list of people who would deserve to get bitten ;D ;D
