jig-x knot

Featured Replies

i can tie the one shown on thier site.  but has anyone got another way?

maybe something quicker and easier?

or do i just need to practice this a little more?

It really just takes practice. I will say though that the knot is the biggest turn off for me with this bait. Sometimes it's not the easiest knot to tie. When it's cold outside I have a ton of problems tying it. I do like the design of the bait, but I am thinkin' about possibly trying something that is easier to tie in cold weather conditions.

Guys, try this.

Run your line through the jighead and then through the eyelet.  pull about 6 inches of slack on both sides of the eyelet.

place your left pinky on the eyelet in between the two strands with the tag end in your left thumb and forefinger and twist the line over 6 times.  Then, run the tag end through the bottom where your pinky is.  Sinch it up.

Try this a few times and it is simple.  I can tie one on very quickly during a night tournament in the rain...

well i've played with this thing awhile.  i figured out an easy way to tie the improved clinch.  this has been the knot that i've been using most of the time.  anyone have any opinions or ideas.

thanks for your input. ;)

Since I don't have any of these, but find them really intriguing, I watched the presentation on the Vertical Lures site.  I see what you're saying regarding the knot tying.  Wow.  Not for me.  But I look at the thing and say, why not just tie the Palomar?  Is there any reason that it wouldn't work?  Again, I ask because I don't have any for practical experience.  The head and eye design reminds me of Texas rigging, really, and I tie on my hooks with the Palomar.   With the design, I would run the line through the head single, pull enough to double, then come through the eye from the side in the normal fashion to tie.  If you try it or have tried it, how does it work?  I'm curious...

Jig-X Knot =Uni-Knot

After looking at the directions for tying their knot, the knot is basically a uni-knot tied on the jig eye.
