I had a computer for 10years that finally gave up the ghost. It got so slow that I i could click on something and go get a sandwich and a nap and it still would not be loaded. Ok so anyway I go on line and buy a refurb for about 200 bucks. It was supposed to have twice the memory of my old one. I bought it back in july and I am already getting a message saying that I have no disk space left.ARE YOU KIDDING ME > > And no, I did not load anything to take up that much space. Memory and disk space are two completely different things. How big is the hard drive in the new system? Have you looked how much was left?

3 ghz 504 mb ram. I know that is not huge but there is no way i have used that much. A friend said to just go out and get an external hard drive.

The good news though, is that I started a new job and was given an Ipad. can't do as much with it as you can a laptop but I'm not going to complain.

3ghz is not an amount of space its a speed. and 504mb of RAM also has nothing to do with storage. how much SPACE is on your hard drive (mb, gb, tb, etc)?

My advice would be to send it back if you can. The bare minimum you should be getting in a system now would be 1GB RAM - and i would suggest 2+ if you plan on doing anything with a modern operating system.

As far as the hard drive size, you could probably get by with 40Gb if you dont use a lot of apps. Im talking about specs here that you would see on a computer that would be 5+ years old. They should be almost giving away stuff like that.

37.2 gb and I have used 37.1. sorry about the description in 1st post. I know that ghz does not have to do with space and I also know that RAM and Hard drive are not the same. Had a little trouble putting down my thoughts

going to at least 1 gig of ram would be good. But for the space you will have to go to add/remove programs and delete the programs you don't need. Most likely pre-installed stuff is taking up space. Otherwise it has to be data files no easy way to say how to go thru them and remove what you don't need......

Heck a clean xp install with all it's updates can be almost 15 gigs (if you just to auto update and don't control what updates you take). I have 1.5 TB and with all my 3d models, textures and reference images I almost have it full. My point is, you'll never have enough space

I would get an external and offload whatever you can. I like to get Windows it's own hard drive, I install programs on another and have all my files on the third drive.
