New Rage Tail Lure, reviews

Featured Replies

I've been using the Anaconda worms (both sizes), the space monkey, the lizard, and the lobster for awhile now. Not saying anything about them has been KILLING me. So here's a little look into what should be coming to a shelf near you soon!! (I'll be posting a link to the new Rage Tail product line video hopefully sometime today)

Lobster- The lobster is a bigger version of the craw. It's not overly huge like a giant swimbait, but it is bit bigger. I've been throwing them on a carolina rig and a football jig as a trailer for a few weeks now. I thought I was going to cry when I used my last one. Talk about aggressive strikes. If fish are in the mood to hit a bigger bait, then throw this dude at them. They absolutely kill it.

7" Anaconda- The 7" Anaconda really got me excited. Before using the Anaconda, I was rarely throwing any kind of worm at all. I guess I had lost faith in them since powerworms shut down in my area. When I recieved the Anacondas, I had to see them in the water. The tail action is more aggressive than traditional curl-tail worms and these babies move a LOT of water. Not as much as the 10inchers though. These bad boys are LETHAL on a carolina rig. Absolutely insane in my area.

10" Anaconda- The 10" Anaconda says "kill me before I kill you" to bass. Even on a light, keel weighted swimbait hook, this big tail will slither in the water, giving you a variety of presentations for both sizes of the worm. Texas rigged, jig 'n worm, keel jig, carolina rig, or weightless on top of the slop, these guys rock. To say that I have a new favorite 7 and 10 inch worm is an understatement.

Space Monkey- This little oddity had my eyebrows raised at first. I wasn't sure about the frog/lizard/craw look. My face was probably just as contorted the first time I looked at a baby brush hog. When I got a solid fish on my first cast (keel jig style), I was impressed. When I continued to score fish after fish on this little creature, I was hooked. This is the lure that I've been going to A LOT on keel jigs. They have also done well for me as a skirted jig trailer and on a texas rig.

Lizard- A lizard is something that I rarely use, so testing this lure had me with little confidence. Not really knowing what I should do with a lizard in the middle of the summer, I decided to sling it out there on a carolina rig. The lizard has great action on all of it's appendages, especially the tail. These lizards have renewed my trust and faith in lizard type baits.

There is something out there for everyone with the whole Rage Tail line-up. Worms, craws, topwater frogs and shad, lizards, creatures, giant worms, chunks...it's all there and it's all good. The Rage Tail action is unique. Being a part of the lure testing and reviewing was a great honor that I am proud to have been a part of. Talk about having a good time hiding baits from friends and using them when no one is looking ;D

Big-O (Steve) has done a spectacular job on these lures and I think y'all are gonna have a good time with them.  These lures are packed with crazy action and scream reaction strike.

I thought the space monkey looked pretty good. Whats a keel jig?

You can download the video from the home page of Rage Tail's site.  You'll see why these lures rock and why I'm stoked to be a part of the Rage Tail team.  If this doesn't get your inner Bait Monkey flinging poo at your old tackle and demanding new lures, nothing will  ;D

Man, I knew I should have never opened this thread!!!!!!!!!!  the bait Gorilla is now jumping up and down on my shoulders.....  ::( ::o :-?

A keel jig is what I'm calling a soft plastic craw on a keel weighted swimbait hook. I don't know what else to call it :(

What did y'all think about that video?

Brian,

Super report. Thanks for the info.

I will have to be on the lookout for the new baits.

:(

Just viewed the video.  Really is good.

The Bait Monkey just called and he wants to head out as soon as possible to pick some up. I have to get dressed.  ;D

I like the rage tail baits and catch lots of fish on them...they are just real expensive...$1 per bait is hard to swallow when you catch as many fish as we do in a day. I figured up the other day and on a full day trip I tore up over $50 of SK baits. I hope after the intitial hype that the prices come down some.

I'm not sure when the new stuff hits the shelves. When Big-O gets back, he'll be able to give you a better idea on that. Hopefully it is very, very soon.

Hey Capt, at least that means you're catching quite a bit of fish! ;D

I know a little about the new baits too :-X

All I can say is that they ARE the bomb!

Gotcha. Thanks.

How many worms come in a pack?

  • Author

Not really sure.  The ones I have used haven't been in the new packaging yet, so I don't know what they have planned for that.

I love the frogs and can hardly wait to see and try out the new anacondas and lobsters.

Rage tail lures are the next best thing since the jig

New RageTail Anaconda+10"+Junebug color+C Rig=HUGE success  8-)

You guys are the best and thanks for all the comments. I don't know what the prices will do because I am not privy to that info as of yet. I am also coming out with new inside packaging (hardshell clams) to maintain the exact shape of the baits so that they are as close to perfect as possible when you put'em on a hook. Also tear tabs on all legs, tails or extremities on any and all designs. The tails will be attached on Anacondas but will not have clams as it will not be necessary. The Clam shell packages will guarantee the action to be correct on all baits. In manufacturing, each bait have to be placed by hand, one at a time in a given sequence inside the clam then closed before placing in the bag and sealed. This has added big expenses in manufacturing but I think it's about time to step it up in the soft plastics market to not only provide high energy and action designs but as importantly, guarantee the action results, I'm In.  With the costs of things going out of sight today, who knows about next yrs prices.

All I know is, "Some people design soft plastics to make a living, but I live to design soft plastics", theres a difference you know. I am retired and money is not an object, I just want to be able to give my best effort and be totally happy with whatever I do. Now that's a happy retirement and you guys are a big part of that, thanks.

Ck out the new video on Rage Tail homepage, I made it so that you can see all of the new designs action etc.

not to rain on the parade, because I'm excited about most of these new rage tails:

is it me, or does the anaconda look like a roboworm robotail knock-off? I'd have to throw a robotail in the water and check it out right after watching the rage tail video, but it seemed like the same thing when I watched the video earlier.

Fret,

Yes, it is similiar to a Robo Worm but I don't think a Robo Worm has the same action.

The Rage Tail looks like a crazy trick worm/Zoom Ol Monster combination which looks fantastic.

Can't wait to try each one as soon as they come out.  :(

Roboworm is designed off of the old Manns Augertail worm that came out back in 1970. The Anaconda design is much different and is designed around the Rage Tail Patents. No other worm even close. If there was, I wouldn't have designed it.

The Anaconda worms are in no way a knock off of anything.  Outside of the water they might resemble something else, but on closer inspection, you'll see why they are different.  You ever see the little lip on the edge of rage tail bait's tails?  There is one of these on the worm as well, near the tail section.  This lip is what gives the lure the unique action that can't be found anywhere else.  Currently, that lip is on all rage tail baits...it's kind of the trademark so to speak.  As far as I know, Rage is the only one doing it.

It's called patented design features in the design world. ;) And no other worm has this action either. That's called exclusive action in the action world.  ;D

Fishbear, Looks like 10/15/08 is earliest date on shelves and wish it could be earlier, thanks
