What size shrink tubing for 5 inch Senko

Featured Replies

Finally got sick and tired of losing a Senko for every fish caught, particularly when fishing wacky.

I remember someone suggested electricians heat shrink tubing really adds to the longevity.

Now what size?  I went to Home Depot today and 1/4" looks too small but 1/2" looks way too big.  Is there an intermediate size?  or does the 1/4" fit?

For those that use the shrink tubing what size and any preferred brands?

Cheers!

I have never heard of that.  It seems like it would mess with the action.

Hope it works out for you.

Wouldn't that mess with the action of the bait??? :-?

I don't see how a little section of heat shrink tubing in the centre of the Senko, to reinforce where the hook passes through is going to mess with the action.

Once I find the size, I'll report back.  :-/

i thought the shrink wrap was for the entire bait sorry.... :-[

I also thought it would be for the entire Senko. I misunderstood.

I have seen that pciture on here before but never knew what that was on the middle of the lure.  Will have to keep that in mind.

I forgot to put the brand name. It is available at Lowes in the electrical dept. This is a picture of the package for reference ( these parts are for a Trick worm using the 1/4" ) the brand is the same.

not sure if it's this way in the picture or not (it's too dark in the middle to tell), but I always used to put the heat shrink around the senko and just slide the hook bend under the top of the shrink so it doesn't enter the worm at all - doesn't weaken it that way.

anyway, thanks for posting that - reminds me to go back to doing it and stop being lazy. good money saver.

fretfishman, yes, the top rigging in the picture is using the tubing like an O ring. I did that picture as part of a discussion with a guide about wacky rigging Senkos.
