I'm heading up to Merrymeeting today to try and catch some lake trout and salmon. Anyone have any tips on catching lake trout? I've never caught one or even fished for them. I know to fish deep for them but does anyone have tips on how to reel them in?

You can try fly fishing and spoons/mepps spinners when the fish are active. Salmon eggs is also a good bait. ask the locals what colors/size of flies/spoons/spinners they use.

Thanks. Asking the locals is probably the best tips you can find anywhere. I went to Merrymeeting and only caught bass and perch. I was really hoping for some dinner. I might try horned pout tonight.
