I have fished for carp on and off for about 15 years. There is nothing I ever hook into that makes my reel sing like a carp does. I know they're a problem fish in some places, but still a great sport fish as far as I'm concerned.

I love catching carp more than any other fish.  Which reminds me, I need to hit a local carp hotspot and spend the morning trying to boat a 20+ lb. fish.

Can you eat these fish? I have heard of people doing out of the Mississippi but never tried it. If so what are some good recipes.

there is a special way to cook the fish (fish being very bony), Carp are better to eat from fresh clear water because they feed off the bottom. If a carp for instance comes form a muddly lake, pond, ect. It will most likely taste like that.

Agree with bass109; they're fine if they come from good water. For many years carp was (maybe still is) a main ingredient in the popular food among Jewish people, gefilte fish.

What about out of a crick or river  that is clear at some points and muddy others?
