My guess would be he put it back. The water gets pretty warm in the summer and there's a good chance most of them have worms.   :-/

Bluegill get worms when the water gets hot? Is this pretty common amongst all freshwater fish?

I put him back. The water temp was low 50's, but it was a private pond that I had to beg to fish. And he did put up a good fight, i thought it was a bass till i pulled him from the cattails.

Sorry, can see the pic here at work due to the firewall. I don't beleive all species will get worms, but I know the bluegills and rock bass 'n such will.
