Live shrimp about 2.5 ft under a popping cork or live mullet under a cork.

Where on the Gulf Coast. I live near the Gulf in Alabama. Live shrimp works great but if you are fishing jetties there may be to much current to fish with a bobber. Use a egg singer and leader with a bait hook. Bull minnows, mullet and cigar minnows are good for the larger reds. You may also want to try a trout lure which is two small jigs tied to a single rig. You can find them @ Wal-mart for $1-2.

Where I'm from DOA shrimp will catch Trout and Reds constantly. Especially in the Night Glow color. But kinda expensive ($5 for 3 In Wal-Mart).

Also try live or dead shrimp, I use pyramid sinkers, because they sink in the sand and stay, but use whatever works for you.

Good luck.

Vacation's probably over by now, but if you ever go back, where I'm from the DOA shrimp is deadly. I use it under a popper cork instead of live shrimp (saves money) and get just as many bites, and I also keep one rigged without a cork for twitching past points, etc. You'll also get the occasional catfish or ladyfish.
