Striper - Sluggos with Marker

Featured Replies

Ok, here is my question to you fellow striper fisherman. I have a pack of white sluggos and they came in a pack of like 6 or so, anyhow I hear the blacks are the best to use at night, so I was thinking of taking one of my white sluggos and using a black permanent marker on it to make it black. Would this work out? Or would there be sometype of effect with the bait giving off a bad scent due to the marker scent or what ever?

I'm not for sure but I'm sure the marker smell would be pretty potent. I know one of those markers with the cap off for more than 5 minutes gives me a headache.

Go buy some black ones, make sure they are 9". ;)

Black marker sometimes turns purple after awhile.  The fish may not care but it looks a bit goofy to me.  I once turned a white, soft plastic "ghost" bait into a purple one by mistake so I know of which I speak.  So if you do this, test the marker for true permanence before going crazy on the whole batch.
