Just picked up a 12ft flatbottom and I want to paint it Olive drab but am having a hard time finding what I need. Mostly seeing 12oz cans which would cost a small fortune and take forever. I have a gun here I use for body work and what not on vehicles so I rather just get it by the quart and spray it on. I found some stuff on BPS but they offer no info on it. Anyone used it or know of a Olive Drab paint that can be sprayed through a gun? Nice boat, I'd like to find something like that in the next couple years but for now I'll have to stick with my aluminum flat bottom boat.

I'm not for sure but I'm sure the marker smell would be pretty potent. I know one of those markers with the cap off for more than 5 minutes gives me a headache.

I wouldn't dare go out for a tournament like that without a net. I would agree with the angler having to land his own fish but as for no net, not a smart idea.

If you can afford about $65 I picked up a nice Abu Garcia Cardinal spinning reel with Fenwick rod at Wal-Mart. Rod is a MH which is what I like the best and reel had 7 bearings. Very nice for the money.

Couple questions, whats a rod like that cost, and why the FC leader over mono? How long did it take to land that fish?

I just picked up one of these myself a week ago. Haven't used it yet but seemed like a bargain at $24.99, sounds like I made a good choice.

Salmon are starting to run in the river around here and I was thinking of trying some Power Pro 50lb or something like that for them. Question is being a leader is need with this stuff, say I were to run 20lb mono or floro what strength do I actually have at the knot? I know different knots have different breaking strengths but whats the point in 50lb braid if you only have 20lb hold your lure on? Last salmon I had on broke my line at the lure with 20lb mono.

....on a BRAND NEW reel that hasn't even been spooled yet? No way I'd send it off for warranty repair. I agree with this. No way would I buy something brand new and send it out for warranty work and I wouldn't even go as far to even try and grease it either, should preform like brand new from the box, not after you mess with it for a while. I'd go back to the store and swap it out for a Abu Garcia.

I'm in Newaygo which is about midway in the state on the west side. There are a few here and there but not real heavy yet. I hear a few guys that went up north used a single salmon egg (plastic) to catch the ones they got. I also know a guy who does pro bass fishing and he went salmon fishing a week ago and bought a bunch of hot n tots and wiggle warts in silver and firetiger color.

I'll add another for Cavitron although I did buy a couple Boo-Yah baits the other day, have yet to catch anything with them though.

We are just starting to get a few salmon out by my place. My friend got one yesterday and we only saw two the whole time out. I hope by Friday after work there where be a few more so we dont have to chase them up and down the river.

Last fish I ate was a 3lb small mouth my friend caught. We cut it up into fillets and then crushed up a bunch of Ritz crackers and coated the fillets in crackers, very simple to do and tasted great.

I got my first pike this past weekend while bass fishing. Had a flappin hog on with a size 3 gamakatsu and he nailed it just as it got dark. Got the fish to the boat and tried to get the hook out with him in the water and my friend holding it but he kept thrashing around and neither of us wanted to lose a finger so we hauled it in the boat with a net. Although this got him in the boat it was probably the worst option as he death rolled and got my hook and his teeth caught in the net. I think Im gonna have to venture to a bait shop a hour away to try to find one of the fish grips, I'm sure a pike is the most slimey thing you can catch and a good amount of his slime came off on the net. Hope it dont end with him getting a sickness or infection. On a good note though it was quite fun fighting him. Was in the process of lifting my flappin hog when he hit. He didn't fight hard, felt like I had a pile of weeds, not alot of splashing around, just like reeling in a brick even though he was only 24".

If someone manages to find a diagram or video on this I would love to see it. I've never had any go belly up on me but I dont tournament fish and let all of mine go, be nice to know how to do it if the time ever comes.

I had excellent luck my first time out with Cavitrons. I used the black with red blade and white with red blade both worked great.

Speaking of spinner baits, anyone use the Karu's or have a good suggestion as what brand to check? So far Terminator looks popular. I have good luck with black and white buzzbaits, being these two baits have a similar setup would it be safe to buy spinners on my experiece with buzzbaits or does color totally differ when venturing a few feet below the waters surface?

Ok, just to make sure its chartreuse shad correct?

Looking at picking up one of these. What colors have you had luck with and in what water conditions? Anyone switch out the stock hooks?

If you find any good producing swim baits for cheap let me know, this is the most pricey way to fish.
