First time Senko experience today

Featured Replies

I finally gave in and bought me a pack of senkos today since I constantly see you guys ranting and raving over them here. I've never tried them bc they seemed outrageously overpriced just looking at them on the racks.

I'm now a believer. 5" watermelon's Texas rigged, weightless, 4/0 EWG. Not only did I catch ~10 fish on them in 1 hour, my buddy throwing a Zoom U tail, motor oil worm caught just 1.

My only complaint about them is it seems like they're really fragile, 1 fish=1 worm. Have a feeling these things are gonna burn a hole in my wallet pretty soon. Are there any cheaper replicas or anything that work as well as these?

I prefer the swim senkos myself and have good luck fishing them.  They are a little on the soft side so they will tear depending on how the bass hit them and they can get expensive to replace all the time.  I have gone to custom poured ones that are just a little bit different so it does not infringe on the trademark.  These custome poured ones are cheaper and they have garlic scent in them.  I get twice as many worms for the same price.

Ah yes, the first time.  It was in high school....

Opps. Wrong story.

What you experienced with the Senkos is usual and makes the bass hold onto them via their texture.

Try the *** version.

Either way, they are fun to fish.

And remember, if you have a topwater hit and the fish misses the bait, throw a Senko to the same spot.  The bass will hit the Senko.

Have fun and send us some pics of those *** bass.  ;)

When in doubt, go with the senko and you will almost certainley catch some bass. The only time they don't work is in murky water, and at most you will get 3 fish per lure. I rig it on the fat side first, the skinny side second, and then wacky rigged.

I usually use them until they literally fly off the hook because of the price. But the fish don't mind, they will still hit one thats tattered and torn to pieces and being held together by the hook.

Yum dingers are a cheaper option and I think they are a bit more durable. But if you can I would go with the trick sticks.

You can wacky rig them with a ring and that way if they come off you can reuse them. you can get the tool and the rings on ebay cheap. Try Mend-it glue it works better than other glues and does not make the plastic hard.

The hook just goes under the ring and not into the worm. You should be able to get more than one fish off them.

You should see how much we pay for custom worms out here in the west.

Also, when you wear one end out flip it around and fish it backwards. It works just as well.

what i usually do is i texas rig it one one side and after that side gets torn up i texas rig it on the other side and fish with it until it gets torn up then i wacky rig it in the middle

Got my first Senko fish this morning.  From 6:00 am to 11:30 am I fished a small lake in the Fort Bragg area (Overhills Lake--once owned by Percey Rockefeller).  In all that time I had one bite and one bite only.  And the Senko was the bait that got bit.

The fish was small, under a pound, but it kept that awful skunk away.  ;)
