Think I caught a dogfish

Featured Replies

Could use some help here. The other day I hooked up what was probably a ten pound fish. Was definitaley not a bass. Sort of looked like a catfish/carp mix. Head was catfish shaped without whiskers. The body was dark green with a lighter under side. Long and slender, minimal fins.

Sorry I don't have a pic I couldn't land the thing cause it was heavier then the test on my line and managed to break it right next to the boat.

Is this a dogfish? Or some other species?

Location caught: Southeastern Wisconsin

could've been.  Did it bark?

It's a bowfin. Lots of fun to catch. Fight like the Dickens.     Happy fishing.
