My neighbor was jug fishing for blues and caught a spoonbill, a once in a lifetime thing. We started talking about freak catches and I told mine. Wife and I were crappie fishing with 1/16 oz jigs on ul's. We always bet first biggest and most for bragging rights. After several crappie she gets a lmb about 5 and constant trash for next few minutes. After no more than 5 mins I caught a 221/2'' l'm guessing went close to 7, ending the trash talk. We've all had the unexpected on the end of our lines. What kind of crazy or surprises have you all had while bass fishing?

I have never got one to the boat, but on several occasions, I have been bringing in a crappie only to have it slammed by musky.  It definitely wakes you up.

This spring I was flipping trees in a creek on my local river for LMB. I caught this bad boy on a Karu Flippin Jig with a Dirty Sanchez Sweet Beaver trailer.  ;D

I was tossing a watermelon green ring tube T-rigged near the bottom on a small pond. Felt something hit the bait and hit it hard, set the hook started reeling and when I saw this thing I had no clue what it was. Had to be at least 30" long and turned out to be  bowfish.

Same lake about 1 week before hand, fishing with my black/sliver x-rap I caught a spotted gar fish. Before then I didn't even know those existed in Wisconsin

last year I decided i wanted to catch a catfish, with no luck at all. This year I didn't have that urge cuz I got skunked, Well I was throwing a strike king sexy shad crank bait and caugh a 4 pound bull head. Then about 3 weeks later, I was throwing a jig, and bouncing it off the bottom, I felt a tap set the hook, and i never felt a fish from that river pull so hard, I managed to get the fish up to the surface and then it pulled out even more drag, finally I get it to the shore and I realized I snagged a 30 inch 8lb chanel cat my pb fish out of that river. Also I caught 2 sauger this year, My year was full of surprises.
