I have a 14 ft jon boat with a gas and trolling motor. Ive been looking to go over to the mosquito lagoon, if i got a push pole could a jon boat do alright in the shallow water?

Thanks Nick

You will be just fine. My buddy's dad used to fish the lagoon in his flat back aluminum canoe with a trolling motor and a paddle. Me and my used to fish the lagoon every weekend before fishing for reds got real popular. We fished out of a 14'6" Grumman Boat with a 35 hp evinrude. For a Poling platform we just put a coller as far back as we could on the back deck and used that as the poling platform. My dad also made his own push pole out of a 12' x probably 2" round piece of wood (looks like it would be used for a closet clothes rack) and made the end out of pvc pipe. It was a cheap set up but the push pole is still going strong today. I have had to replace the pvc but other than that it still works. It's not as light as the $300 fiberglass push poles but this one works and is cheap.

You will be fine in a 14' boat.
