Carp

Featured Replies

While out on the lake today I came across a small school of GIANT carp.  It was crazy, these things were almost as long as my 8' buster!  I swear the scales were bigger than a quarter.  I guessed the biggest one I saw to be at least 70lbs!!  I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I have never seen a freshwater fish that size.  What kind of carp would these be?  I see in Texas they have several different kinds.  I think the bigger ones would definetly be a lake, possibly state record.  So how does one go about catching a giant carp?  I always heard corn works well, but never tried it.  Any help would be much appreciated!!

Cliff

chum with whole kernel corn, and with a small barbless hook with 2-3 pieces of the same corn cast  out and wait. (if you can't find barbless hooks then just mash the barb down with a pair of pliers)

What kind of carp would these be?

Grass Carp.
