whats a good catfish bait besides a nightcrawler on the bottom, and special recipes andbody would like to share along with how to prepare it?

I like chicken livers for catfishing. We also use a lot of cut herring.

Frozen whole raw shrimp or frozen squid from an asian supermarket for channels, live bluegill for flatheads.
