Pickerel in MS? Apparentely

Featured Replies

My buddy caught what appears to be a pickerel this afternoon.  Unfortunately, when I lifted it out of the water, we got like 15 seconds and it wiggled off the hook and hit the water (Note to self:  ALWAYS hold them over the boat).  Didn't get a pic.

As we were loading the boat, I got to talking to another guy.  He is local and said that are pickerel there.

New one me.  Now I have to catch one for myself. ::)

There are alot of Pickeral where I live, they're fun at times but they do get annoying.

36" + = fun

30 and under = to quote another member slime dart. :D

Chain Pickerel range throughout the state of Mississippi.

Can't argue there since 36" would break the world record.  ;D

You learn something new every day.  Never seen one before. I always thought they were cold water fish.

The Chain Pickerel's range runs from Maine down the eastern seaboard states to Florida, and west to Louisiana. I used to catch them when I was a teenager in Florida.

I've caught them down here in the rivers along the coast as well. Guess they're more spread out than I realized.
